Locksmith Finishes Historic Season and Removes All Debate on Who is #1

Locksmith Finishes Historic Season and Removes All Debate on Who is #1

Though college football’s debate on who is the real #1 will go on for the next 35 days, the CFGL’s best became crystal clear n Saturday night.  The Locksmith capped a truly historic season with a 45 point week and he eclipsed the all-time record for total points in a CFGL season.  Saturday’s action only served as the crown jewel of one of the most consistent seasons ever in The League.

The Locksmith used wins in his 20, 15, and 10 point games to run his season total to an incredible 507 points.  Not only did he outscore the biggest field in League history, but also outscored the previous eight winners of the CFGL, eclipsing Barndawg’s record of 503.5 points in Season Eight.  Perhaps the most impressive part of his performance is that by weeks, this is the shortest season in CFGL history, with only 14 weeks for picks.

Locksmith averaged more than 36 points per week, including a zero in one week and a seven in another.  Without those two weeks, he averaged 42 points per week that included:
·         A single perfecto
·         4 conference bonuses
·         7 dog game winners
·         10 weeks of 30+ points

In week three, The Locksmith moved into the top 10 with a KState $ line and 62 point week and never dropped out.  He added his perfecto in week six and stayed in the top three the rest of the way.  It was week 12 that his 20.5 point dog hit and there was not a doubt the rest of the way.

Here are some of the past winners that the Locksmith outperformed to set the record:

Historic Results, Winner TOTAL POINTS

CFGL1 - Reidtard 340
CFGL2 - Hussion 384.5
CFGL3 - Honk City - 400.5
CFGL4 - Reilly - 462.5
CFGL5 - Hammes - 490
CFGL6-Dragon - 381
CFGL7- Primetime - 457.5
CFGL8 - Barndawg - 503.5
CFGL9 - The Locksmith 507

Congratulations to the Locksmith on the greatest regular season in CFGL history…and on to the rest of the field.

Drew Bledsoe Falls Just Short Perfecto, League Title, and Hall of Fame

As incredible as the Locksmith season was, it was nearly eclipsed by Drew Bledsoe’s run at the champ.  Drew Bledsoe spent the last four weeks mounting a charge at the League champ and had Alabama covered on Saturday, it would be he who is wearing the crown and taking home the loot.  Had the Tide been able to cover the 7-point spread in the SEC Championship, Bledsoe WOULD be in the Hall of Fame…the CFGL Hall of Fame as a League Champion.  The Tide would have provided him a 75 point week and the 20 point perfecto bonus would have given him enough to surpass the Locksmith by 17.5 points.  As it falls, GDBITHOF ends up in second place with an incredible 472.5 points.  He wins Carroll’s Credit Union by more than 70 points.

Stumblin’ Drunks Take Advantage of Beast Infection Staggering to the Finish
One time League leader, Beast Infection totaled just 54.5 points in the last three weeks of the season and the Drunks take advantage of his temporary illness.  Stumblin’ Drunks ride a week 11 perfecto and 34.5 points on the final day to take third place.  Beast Infection’s flare up was contained on Saturday as he only won 1 of his 5 picks.
The Infection’s condition nearly worsened when RipperRipski scored 60 points and seemed destined for the division win on Planet Weis.  It was #68 John Force however, who topped Ripski and the rest of the division on the day, stealing the 10 point bonus and allowing the Beast to win the Planet and take home an additional $150.00.
RipperRipski finishes a strong #5 in his rookie season and heads into the bowl games as a strong contender to take that title home.

Coach, Nittany Lyin, and P-Horse Top Their Division; Round out the Top 10
Nine year veteran Coach dominated Petrino’s Hog Riders, winning by over 80 points and finishes #6 overall, his best finish ever.  The lifelong Irish fan edged out rookie RollTideYall by 0.3 points and hopes that the Irish will be able to edge the Tide in the same way in January.  Two more rookies, Nittany Lyin and P-Horse finish #8 and 9 respectively and win their conference. It was P-Horse’s Saturday Heroics that netted him 70 points and the Shapiro All-Star title after Deeds and Welchtwin battled at the top for most of the year.  The Morgan Brothers, Doug & Kyle, round out the top ten with Schematic Advantage.

Rookies are the Story of the Rest of the Top 20
Season Nine had a record number of rookies and they lined the Top 20 of the final standings.  Of the rooks, Raider Power, goldline.com, and KC Mizzou Mafia all survived final week zeroes to land themselves in the top 20 at #12, 17, and 20.  In addition, Urban CrierLiar and Col Touch Down had strong enough seasons to finish #18 and #19 respectively.
Overall rookies made up half of the top 20 spots in the CFGL, making it clear that growth was “For the Good of The League”.

The Bad and The Ugly and The Rest
Nine year veteran, La Maquina finishes first out of the money and just three points out of his first year paid by the League, he was also beaten by his rookie brother, who finished in the loot…Three weeks ago, Mamacita looked like a lock for some money but her last three weeks the weather changed on her picks...Last year’s bowl champion TP3 finishes #29, and last year’s regular season champ, Barndawg finishes at #39…Lowest finish in the Johnson family (7 total entries) goes to Mr. Kasey Johnson who doesn’t score in championship week and finishes #35…One time leader, Beaver Believer was the USC of the League as he ends the season at #55 after holding the #1 spot during the season…and last but not least, actually, last and least, is Air Raid who finishes with just 122 points, averaging less than 9 points per week.

League founders, Commish and Deeds would like to thank you all for an incredible Season Nine.  Details on the Bowl Season will be forthcoming this week and we will run it all back with picks for the 35 bowls.
