Week Eight Results
Ladies and Gentlemen-
Week Eight proves to be an important one as the regular season is now officially halfway over. With seven weeks to go we have a brand new leader…La Maquina.
For those of you who do not know your CFGL history, La Maquina has had the lead in the league at the half way point in four out of eight seasons. It is also true that he has never finished first during a regular or bowl season. For now he sits atop the standings using a “Perfecto” to accumulate a total of 71 points after his bonuses. He is another example of rags to riches by scoring 126.5 points in the last two weeks to take the top spot.
In other big moves, WinMonster 5000 scores a whopping 80 points with a five-stack, Power Week, moneyline pick against his archenemy BC Eagles. Does it get any better than that? He has announced that he will now retire from the League as there is nothing left for him to accomplish. He jumps from dead last to 25th.
iBlink also cashes in an incredible week by hitting a three-team parlay and a 61 point week after winning his division. He jumps from 18th into the top ten to finish the week 8th. Mile High finally rebounds with a strong 37 point week and cuts the lead in the West Atlantic to 15. Hack Attack and the Fire Ants have a strong showing finishing with 34 points and near the top of the standings.
In the category of futility, there were four “competitors” that scored zero for the week. Among them was last week’s leader, Prestige Worldwide. After riding the anti-Lobo to a league lead, his alma mater finally bit back by covering against SDSU. Oven, Flute w/no Holes, and Vandalay Industries go bankrupt with high risk gambles.
As for division battles…
- Carolina Fire Ants squeaks out a division win to take over the Big Canyon over Situation by 5 points
- La Maquina’s perfecto is enough to carry him to the top of the Midwest Shore, with Hack Attack hanging in there with another strong week…six points separate
- The NE Heights are still ruled by MR. KASEY JOHNSON as Hussion and Shaman split the division win with a mere 24
- The Southern Plateau continues to disappoint with their top player, Aunt Betty placing 13th overall and owns a four point lead over the whores
- West Atlantic’s skinny dip hits a 28 to lead the division by 15 over Mile High…will they be scared by the WinMonster down the stretch?
- After a rags to riches story, Prime time has struggled to hold on and drops another spot to 4th overall, but leads the West Valley thanks to Prestige Worldwide’s goose-egg. The West Valley is still the class of the League with four of the top eight in the standings.
Next week is a PAC-10 week, which should payoff for many who will get two Power Games…
