With Two Games Remaining...
Ladies and Gentlemen of the League-
We have finally arrived at the end of the road. Although there are two games left and scores are separated by the slimmest of margins, there are officially three League members with the chance to win the Bowl Season.
Our current leader and first competitor ever to go over the 400 point mark is Aunt Betty's Fried Chicken, who is riding high after a 30 point under game in the Compass Bowl. His total of 418 points breaks the all time record of points in a bowl season.
How close is the Bowl Season title? It could not be closer...literally.
Mamacita has converted on an unbelievable 69.3% of her points and sits in 4th place overall. Second in percentage, ABFC has converted on 69.2% of his picks. That's right, they are seperated by 0.1% or 0.001!
Mr. KJ is our third competitor with a shot at the title as he has won another 4 in a row and 106 straight points. All of this is after hitting 113 of 118 on New Year's Day (95.8%). He has won a total of 219 points in the last 11 games, and gone 253 of his last 291 for an astounding 87% since the final game of New Year's Eve, kick-started by a win by his beloved FSU Seminoles. Even with this amazing streak, he finds himself in 2nd place and 20 points behind Aunt Betty, who rules the roost by outdoing Mr. KJ on New Year's Day (96.9%) and overcoming an 0 for 4 day on Dec 30th games.
The scoreboard will show that Cinderella Story, Sam-Bean-O, Coach, Situation, and La Maquina are still technically alive, but CFGL projections reveal that all four have been mathematically eliminated from the title.
The projections are attached and one wonders what could have been for Sam-Beans if his beloved Cornhuskers would have taken care of business in the Holiday Bowl. Cinderella Story's is back to a pumpkin and certainly thinking about his New Year's Day picks as he hit just 67% of his points. Under any other circumstances, 2/3 picks would be great, but those around him dominated that day.
As for Coach, perhaps moneylining the Fighting Irish for a higher point total would have had him still in the hunt. For La Maquina, it may have been the blind faith that he had in the Mtn. West as he lost 55 total points on TCU and Utah. $ituation fell victim to picking with his heart as Nebraska, Tennessee, and Clemson all let him down for a total of 66 points lost. It seems that his heart has led him to trouble one more time.
Final projections reveal that the final two games can finish eight different ways. Of those eight, Mamacita can win in four of those scenarios for a 50% chance at the title. The remaining four scenarios are split by ABFC and Mr. Kasey Johnson who each have a 25% shot at the win.
- ABFC needs BC and Auburn to cover or he will not have enough to win. He finds himself rooting against his pick this evening in the Nevada game.
- Mr. KJ needs Nevada and Auburn. In that scenario he would win the league by one point over a tied 2nd place of ABFC and Cinderella Story. (445 to 444)
- Mamacita remains with the best chance as she wins it with an Oregon cover, regardless of who wins between Nevada and BC.
This season will be another incredibly close finish as we follow last year's thriller with another incredibly tight race. Last year it was Dee's Pimpin' that won the league by a mere half point over our Commisioner and founder. This year it will come down to the final game and could be as close as 1 point.
The League will have its eyes on both remaining games and we hope that all of you will enjoy the games despite not having a chance to win it, for the good of the League.
Have a great Sunday!
Deeds and Commish
