New Year's Day Post

League-

Happy New Year to you all.

Traditionally in the CFGL, New Year's Day is considered "moving day". In other words, if you can't cash in today, you won't be in the cash. Yesterday's games seemed to go a long way in determining our Bowl Season Champion.

Notre Dame's win over Miami is worth mentioning as it was our most correctly picked bowl of the day.

South Carolina lost its star running back, turned the ball over 6 times, and derailed many of the hopes of our competitors. 19 people had the SEC East Champion for more than 18 points.

UCF pulled off a big upset and 9 people cashed in with points, including another moneyline win for the Pigskin Whisperer who has now won 31 bonus points on four moneyline wins.

Clemson sucks and will likely think about firing thier coach.

Overall the day was a tough one for many, putting massive pressure on today's picks. Veteran Cinderella Story lost 54 points and was only saved by a 32 point win on the Clemson/USF over. TP3 took a tremendous hit last evening with a combined 67 points unconverted on UGA and SC.

A tremendous story developing at the bottom of the League as Scaga has dropped 11 straight picks since being praised in the scoring update at the start of the week. His drought has reached epic proportions, and if it wasn't for his first 11 games he may be sitting at the bottom with the greatest cellar-dweller of all time...Ramrod.

Ramrod had a second consecutive 0 for 4 day and remains at 44 points. He will be mathematically eliminated today. Ramrod will not be the first to go, though. For the second year in a row, Mile High is the first person officially eliminated from possible victory. His total possible is 299, six points behind La Maquina's current total.

Speaking of the Sex Machine (La Maquina), he is on an unprecedented pace in the league thus far. All jinxes aside, the Machine has been just that. He has converted on an unbelievable 81.8% of his points. His current pace will lead him to be the first competitor over 500 points in a bowl season. He has not only won 9 of his last 11, but his losses have not been large point games. Outside of his 29 point loss with Utah, he has had single digit losses the whole way.

Though La Maquina's run is impressive, he has a history of being run down by ladies and today could be no different. A Florida St. win catapulted Mamacita to a 66% conversion rate and she threatens Maqs because she has 120 more points remaining.

Along with today's picks and the scoreboard, we are posting an additional treat for all of you watching the games today. It is a post called "For the Good of The League". We have broken down the six games today by the number of points risked on each. This will help you guide how you root today as you watch the games. Generally, most people have put their points on the favorites and the over. A day full of unders would throw The League up for grabs. Wisconsin is the overwhelmingly popular pick of the day as more than 600 points are put on the Badgers.

Additionally, we have included competitors in the top 5's picks separately so that you can root against them throughout the day. Although we were only able to list out the top five, this is still anyone's bowl season. Outside of the Top 5, there are some characters lurking with picks outside what is most picked.

The "Who to Watch List" includes:

  • The Holy Trinity-No suprise here. With a Penn St cover they become very dangerous, risking 139 today.

  • A N'Western cover not only benefits top 5 ABFChicken, but Sam-Bean-O becomes a player.

  • With an Alabama and TCU cover, TP3 becomes a threat to the title.

  • A quiet week for the $ituation, but The Big 10 is big for him today. A N'Western and Michigan cover will put him squarely in contention.

  • La Maquina and the rest of the League needs to be most concerned with The Oven...she has picks today that go against the trends and wins for her will keep her close.

  • Wilson and WinMonster have an interesting combo of games that could lead to them being major players for the rest of the way.

Again, Happy New Year to you all. Enjoy one of the better days of the year.
