New Year's Day Preview
It is officially "moving day" for the CFGL Bowl Season. Every year it is New Year's Day that is the swing day for the eventual champion of part II of The League. There are six games overall and it is clear that if you can pick today right, you will likely have something at stake for the rest of the week.
First, a peek at some of the hidden storylines of the last eleven games of the year...
- Flute with No Holes has the chance at the first and only wire to wire win in Bowl Season history. After winning his 35 point game in the NM Bowl, this wily veteran has never given up the lead. His strategy of big games first has also meant that he has the least points remaining, but its hard to argue with the guy that has led the whole way.
- Juice, P-Horse, Guy Behind the Guy, BullRob, and Nittany Lyin have traded spots in the top five for the last five games. This year's battle at the top has been unique because there has been very little movement within the top five. Last night's LSU upset benefits Juice the most b/c he had the under and scored 33 points while the rest of the top 5 lost on the favorite.
- Air Raid, iBlink, Schematic Advantage, John Force, and Lanny Flaherty are lurking outside the top of the total points list, however, sleeping on any of these guys is a HUGE mistake. They are all in the top 6 on best possible with plenty of points remaining.
- Regular season success doesn't always equal Bowl Season success. Regular season winner, Locksmith has struggled to find the combination yet with his picks and sits at #33. 2nd place winner, Drew Bledsoe doesn't look worthy of the HOF and currently sits at #49. Conference winner, Coach, is in danger of losing his team as he can only muster a #42 ranking so far; he blames Rutgers.
- The bottom of The League has some historically bad performances...currently, there is nobody worse than Jamie O'Hare, the team that is named after Vince Vaughn's character in the legendary movie, Rudy. Like the HS All American in the film, there was lots of hope about the future of O'Hare when they won their first four and 7 of their first 10. Starting with the Baylor/UCLA over, the team lost their next nine and 11 of 12. It seems that there will be no historic underdog story for these guys.
- The Beast Infection's bowl season receives a negative prognosis and he is the first to be officially eliminated from contention for the title. After an all-star rookie performance and fourth place performance in the regular season, losing bowl picks is a virus that may run its course for the entire bowl season. Not only has losing infected eight straight picks and 11 of 12, but he misdiagnosed his 20, 22, 25, 28, 30, 33, and 34 point game. His 25% conversion rate for points leaves him with a best possible of 326, a total that has already been outscored by our leader.
- UGA -10.5 is the MOST PICKED BET of the Bowl Season. The Dawgs garnered 1077 points risked on today's games. On the other end, Nebraska only has 98 points risked on them.
- S. Carolina is the 2nd MOST PICKED BET with 1061 points on them.
- Stanford is the 3rd MOST PICKED BET with 1054 points risked on the Cardinal in this afternoon's Rose Bowl Game.
- Florida State is the 6th MOST PICKED BET with 916 points risked on the Seminoles covering the 13.5 point spread.
There will be a couple more updates today, one before and one after the Rose Bowl.
Enjoy the games and Happy New Year.
