Pre-Sugar Bowl Update

Good evening to you all.
The Commissioner's Office hopes that you all had a great New Year's Day and that the Good of The League was with you.

Once again, New Year's Day proved to be a critical day for so many in the running for the CFGL Bowl Season title.  Yesterday's games were heart-wrenching for those that had big points on South Carolina or Stanford, when both favorites fell short of the cover by 1/2 of a point.  Those two games were the closest of the day and offered up the biggest impact on our standings.  A few notes from yesterday's action:

Moving on Up:
  • Juice used a great new year's eve and early wins on NW and OKST over to take over the overall lead.  He has the second highest best possible right now, and holds a 30 point lead over BullRob, who is in 3rd place, but 2nd place Flute is eliminated on his next loss.
  • #3 BullRob lost half his picks yesterday, however, he lost very low-risk $line games and has plenty of action left to get him to the top.
  • Welchtwins moved up the board with a 5 for 6 performance and shooting the twin into #7 spot.  Though a lot has to fall into place for this two year vet, his strong NYD performance has him with an outside chance of moving to #1.
  • Veteran and past champion, Dee's Pimpin' 'Em used a HUGE six for six day to move all the way into 8th place overall.  Dee has hit 134 straight points and relies heavily on the next two games for a jump into the championship mix.
  • Brother to Dee's Pimpin, Boss Bizzem used a 6/8 run to move into 9th place overall.  If things don't bounce his way, he will look back on South Carolina's failed two-point conversion with regret as he lost his 29 point game there.
  • Florida State's win and cover shot Hollywood Hussion a 34 point boost and pushed the independent movie creator into 11th place overall.  He will be the top performing Hussion this year and relies on KState in his 35 point game for a shot at the title.
  • #13 iBlink has spent the whole bowl season lurking outside the top 5 and has won 6/8 games to position himself for a steal of the Bowl Season Title.  His points progression allows him to stay in this until the end,  with his 30-35 point games still available for points.  Dangerous man.
  • Other top performers on yesterday include a six for six "perfecto" from #Coney2012, and 5/6 performances from #20 RG3's Long Shadow, #27 Michigan Hates U, and #46 Seminole 26.  Unfortunately for all, their pre-New Year's performance leaves them short of contention.

The Bad and Ugly:
  • A 1/6 day leaves our three week leader, Flute with No Holes, out of the top spot and out of contention moving forward.  Flute has just 21 points left to risk and will not be the bowl champion this year.
  • Rookie sensation, P-Horse, has suffered the first "hitch in his giddy-up" with a 1/6 day and a 1/9 slump overall.  After phenomenal start to the bowl season, the Horse is limping towards the glue factory as he sits in 17th place.  Even an Irish $line for 44.5 will not allow for a Seabiscuit finish.
  • #6 overall belongs to Air Raid, who turned an eight game winning streak into four straight losses.  Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and ND are still big games that could have Air Raid near the top at the finish.
  • Turd Furguson completely shits the bed for the last two days and loses 8/9, falling to #25 overall.  Even a half-stinking performance would have left the Turd with a shot at the title.  USC and LSU hurt the most at 30 and 31 points respectively.
  • There is no more likable loser than Head Honcho.  This league veteran is one of the most loyal and well liked of the CFGL "members", but he totally "blows".  Head Honcho now sits just 10 points from the bottom of the standings as he looks to avoid last place.  Head set a CFGL record with over 100 points in a regular season week and still fell below the top 50 in the standings.  The battle will be between he and rookie Meatball for last place.  Keep an eye on who will finish worse.
Sugar Bowl:
Tonight's game offers an incredible balance of picks as 37% of picks are in on Florida and almost 32% rest with Louisville.  The biggest opportunities at the top of the standings lie with RipperRipski, Nittany Lyin, and Wilson, who could creep into the top ten tonight.  Dee's Pimpin' and Boss Bizzem will need a win tonight if they are going to make their championship dreams come true.
Enjoy the games.
