Pre-Cotton Bowl Update
Ladies and Gents...but mostly the men as the top ranked woman is #19 overall and all women are one game away from elimination.
Last
night's game was a bit of a snoozer and for the many folks that had
KState +8.5 found the night as frustrating as finding nightlife in
Manhattan, Kansas. There was a lot of hope early for the OVER when
Oregon returned the opening kickoff for a TD and then smugly went for
two with a fake-ish FG. The action slowed considerably after that and
the 35-17 final was an easy win for the favored Ducks and the Under. Unfortunately for the Juiced veteran, at the end of the night, he will not hold that top spot. An A&M cover would add 28 to his total, but not prevent others passing him to the top spot. Don't forget, however, he leads best possible by 25 points, which means he can make up the deficit the rest of the way. As for those that may lead tonight...
- Last night, John Force put the pressure on our leader with his third straight win, all three worth 26 or more. He sits in second place but takes over the lead with any Oklahoma Sooner cover tonight. How long he will lead is yet to be determined as he has far less to risk coming down the stretch.
- In the case of an A&M cover tonight, PSU's resurrection would be complete with rookie Nittany Lyin taking over the top spot. The Pennsylvania native has been a fixture in the top 5 since New Year's Day, despite his questionable judgement about the university that he roots for. He has stated that his bowl season winnings would be donated to defense efforts for Jerry Sandusky in hopes of exoneration.
- Every email that the Commissioner's office sends gets an "Out of Office" reply from Air Raid, leaving us to wonder what kind of establishment he is running over there. That said, one cannot question the run that he has made on his side gig, the CFGL. Air Raid risks 38.5 more points tonight with a Sooner $line. A Sooner win moves him to #2 overall.
- It looked like Dee's Pimpin' had finally lost his swag with a loss on the over last night. He fell to #7, but tonight he can still move back into the #2 spot if the game finishes OVER the total and OU covers (without winning).
- Eight year veteran, Wilson, claims he threw his picks away weeks ago and now waits for every update to see how he is doing. Well, last night he made it all the way to #6 and tonight a Sooner $line win will pop him to either #3 or #4 (over/under). Can Wilson recapture the glory of the days that there were less than 20 competitors? We find out tonight.
- Tonight is the night for long-time CFGLer, iBlink. iBlink's 31 point win on Oregon last night shot him up to #12 and the Aggies can get him almost the rest of the way tonight. An A&M cover tonight shoots the Blink up into the top 5. The scariest thing about this man is the fact that he is second it total possible points, with his 33-35 still left after the Cotton Bowl.
- BullRob fell out of the top ten last night, all the way to #14, but with an Oklahoma cover he can move as high as #5 (in an under game). The rookie's never say die attitude has him still battling.
- Big2 also has a shot at entering the top 10 tonight from #15. A Sooner $line bonus would make his reward 24.5 points and the #7 position overall.
- Welchtwins and Hammes use tonight's games to simply hold on to their spot as more valuable games are coming up.
As fun and close as the top of the charts are, there is quite a battle going on at the bottom of the standings this year. It is a damn close race to avoid the #69 spot overall.
Currently, it is CFGL bad boys, Mormon Whores, who are at the League low, 166 points. This is the first year that the Whores have gotten every pick in for the entire season and it is being rewarded with a last place finish.
Jamie O'Hare was profiled a couple of days ago for their futility. The hope was that they would "catch fire" and win a couple to pull them out of the basement. Instead, they turned into a dumpster fire inferno. They are clear of the Whores by three points.
The self-proclaimed "greatest rookie of all time", Beast Infection, clearly hit the rookie wall at the end of the regular season and it carried over to the Bowl Season. It is not uncommon for a rookie to struggle to perform in the longer season and Beast is a perfect example. He was the first to be eliminated from bowl contention and is at the bottom of the best possible.
We are down to four games to go. Enjoy the football this evening and another update will be out before the next game.
